April 25th-29th #adventure

Like when the wind shifted in Mary Poppins, so too are we slowly shifting our direction as we move towards the close of this year and instead anticipate our new school, our new colleagues, our new students and families. And windows! For me, all year in some ways is like being stuck in a time machine- simultaneously living and working in our current year while dreaming and planning for the next one. Planning for next year, designing the school last year, and staffing and FURNITURE this year have been exciting adventures, but they have also taken a lot of time away from being in classrooms as much as I'd like, feeling as organized as I'd like, and way more meetings than I would like! But yesterday, the wind shifted. I could feel it. The furniture order is complete. The new bell schedule is done. Hiring is almost finished and the new school is now an exciting reality! It has some siding and stucco already!

But this week I really felt it. Two things happened: Friday night I met two of our incoming second graders for next year and it felt so real-- next year and our new adventure is HERE. I also finally decided on our theme for next year and I ordered the new staff lanyards! That's how I knew. We are ready. We have the best team and I'm so excited about our new additions! This week we should fill the kinder position and then we'll be ready. Or close!

Winnie the Pooh said it. A grand adventure is about to begin! Have a fabulous week!

And the 1,2,3,4,5 challenge continues! The posts are below:

All you have to do is answer 5 questions. Seven of our teachers have already accepted the challenge! I'd love to hear your take! Here are the questions:

One: What has been your one biggest struggle this year?
Two: Share two accomplishments you are proud of from this year.
Three: What are three things you wish to accomplish before the end of the school year?
Four: Give four reasons why you remain in education in today’s rough culture.
Five: Which five people do you hope will the take the challenge of answering these questions?

April 4th-8th

The finish line is near!

Did you know there are only 10 weeks left of school? Let's pace ourselves- it can get busy and crazy and there is lots to do as we head to the finish line (while simultaneously gearing up for new teaching partners and a new school!) For the remainder of the year, I'm going to try to devote as much time as possible so that you have time to think and plan and get organized both curriculum and supply-wise - so we can finish this year and start next year STRONG! Welcome back!
